In short
Forensic litigation support helps counsel establish, quantify and present the financial and electronic evidence in a dispute: tracing transactions, quantifying loss or damages, reviewing documents and data, and giving independent expert opinion. Spectra Forensics works with general counsel and law firms from early case assessment to expert reports and testimony, usually engaged through counsel to help preserve privilege.

Guide
What you need to know
When should a forensic expert be brought into a dispute?
Early. An early case assessment of the financial and electronic evidence helps shape pleadings, document requests, settlement strategy and the decision whether to proceed at all.
What does a forensic accountant do in litigation?
Reconstructs transactions from books, bank records and contracts; tests the other side’s numbers; quantifies loss, damages or an account of profits; and explains the conclusions in a report that a tribunal can follow and that survives cross-examination.
How is electronic evidence handled?
Devices and accounts are imaged and hash-verified, collection is documented, and review sets are built so they can be defended. This supports the Section 63 certificate the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 requires for computer output.
- Early case assessment of the financial and data evidence
- Loss or damages quantification
- Reviewed, tagged document productions (eDiscovery)
- Independent expert report

Frequently asked questions
Can you act as an independent expert witness?
Yes. Our expert reports are independent and written for the tribunal, not for the client, which is what makes them persuasive.
Do you work on arbitrations as well as court cases?
Yes, including domestic and international arbitrations with Indian parties or evidence.
Can digital evidence be relied on in Indian courts?
Yes, when it is collected and handled properly. Forensic imaging, hash verification and a documented chain of custody support admissibility.
Can you also trace assets for enforcement?
Yes. Asset tracing in India and overseas helps make a judgment or award recoverable.
