Guide
What you need to know
How soon should asset tracing start?
As early as possible. The sooner tracing starts, the more likely it is that assets can be frozen before they move again. Bank statements, contracts and known associates are good starting points.
What sources are used?
Financial tracing through accounts and entities; property, corporate, vehicle and other registries; litigation and insolvency records; mapping of relatives, associates and nominee structures; and discreet source enquiries in India and overseas.
How do findings support legal action?
A pre-litigation asset search can supply specific, dated evidence of transfers or removal, which courts look for before granting interim relief. For contractual disputes subject to arbitration, section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 allows a court to order interim measures, including securing the amount in dispute. Counsel chooses the remedy; we supply the evidence.

Frequently asked questions
What is asset tracing?
The forensic process of identifying, locating and documenting assets that have been concealed, transferred or held through others, usually to support recovery, enforcement or litigation.
Can you trace assets held overseas?
Yes. We work on multi-geography matters and have covered 11+ countries, combining public records with local enquiries.
Is asset tracing legal?
Yes, when done lawfully. We use public records, lawfully obtained documents and discreet enquiries, and never pretexting or unlawful access to bank or telecom data.
